"We are all thoroughly thrilled by the kindness and support "THE MISSION" lads have lent us by their cooperation on 3 of the songs. To start off with the one and only WAYNE HUSSEY  sings (as only he can) with CARLO on "Isolation". MARK GEMINI THWAITE lends his wonderfully unique guitar riffs and solos to "Pristine". And RICHIE VERNON  lays down a gorgeous bass tapestry on "Blue":..............Thank you guys, we are immencely chuffed.....Anyway more details on that later.

DEAD GUITARS sind mittlerweile ein bunter internationaler haufen. carlo in holland, pete aus schottland, unser neuer bassist seven lebt in st.petersburg & jettet ständig zwischen russia & colonia... flags, auch ein synonym für das. auch auf tour mit freunden gemeinsame projekte zu planen. wir konnten es auch etwas realisieren... einige feine gastmusiker haben unserem album ihre speziellen akzente verpasst.
auf FLAGS wird ein wunderschöner song ......'isolation......' mit the mission-sänger wayne hussey zu hören sein, im duett mit unserem carlo...im studio hab ich erst mal aus anmut abstand vom mischpult genommen. wayne war anfang der 1980er mein.. ja ..guitarhero..richtig. die typischen skating-gitarren bei sisters üben bis heute magie aus & sind mega psycho-catchy & gut durchdacht. voll mein geschmack. das er jetzt auf unserer cd zu hören sein wird ist eine unglaubliche sache. auch auf tour schien er zwar durch seine brille unnahbar, aber spricht man ihn an, dann ist er ein sehr sehr freundlicher & liebenswerter mensch, der extremen musikalischen tastsinn besitzt. interessant auch die songs, die bei ihm im backstage zu hören waren. wayne hat seine vocals in sao paolo/brasilien aufgenommen.
danke auch an mark gemini thwaite, der ja nicht nur bei the mission, letztlich auch bei peter murphy......'s grosser 2008us-tour zu hören & sehen war. er hat auf ......'pristine......' meinen lead-gitarren part übernommen, aber free, er konnte spielen was er wollte, und es ist gänsehaut geil geworden. ein unglaubliches gefühl, in erwartung seine, in LA aufgenommenen gitarren-overdubs hier am rechner zu öffnen und dann diese performance um die ohren zu bekommen. ist auch ein verantwortungsvoller job, das später am mischpult korrekt zu behandeln...und mark......'s arrangement-ideen umzusetzen...
tip für mgt-fans.. www.youtube.de/petermurphy2008, da hört man mark die alten bauhaus-klassiker spielen.
auf unserer gemeinsamen tour im feb hatte ich mit basser ritchie vernon die meisten gespräche (ur-typisch sein humor), so durfte man ihn nicht vergessen. er hat in seiner kapelle in wales einen bass-take aufgenommen und uns nachts zugemailed. ich hab ihn ausgepackt und mir sind die tränen gekommen..das passiert mir in letzter zeit zwar öfter, aber rich hat auf den letzten drücker den weg auf......'s album geschafft. wehe wenn nicht, ich hätte es ihm nie erklären können. es war für unsere verhältnisse eine ziemliche studio-organisation & geht mir, als art producer auch sehr an die nerven. im no-budget zeitalter muss man alles mit persönlichem einsatz ausgleichen und nichts klappt immer auf anhieb, trotz 25jahre erfahrung...
auch vielen dank an meinen alten kumpel, minimal-komponist georg sehrbrock. er hat mit seinem virtuosem piano & hammond-spiel einen song veredelt.
ausserdem ist mein freund jazz-trompeter markus türk (fehlfarben/family five) auf 2 songs als one-man-brassband zu hören.. (die niederrhein-connection) & nicht zu vergessen michaman von hehl (plexiphones) mit streich-orchester (wir halten die borussia-flagge hoch)...
bei so viel namedropping möchte ich meinen dank an rob & rainer assmann nicht vergessen. ohne sie wäre nix gelaufen.
leider müssen wir noch etwas auf den release warten. aber bei unseren nächsten shows gibt es das album auf jedenfall...wenn nicht noch was schief läuft...ciao.../danke pat 4ur support

"Dearest friends,

just some thoughts that I felt to share with you. We did a couple of excellent concerts lately and to be honest, they were the best ever up till now. Just when I thought that things and circumstances were getting worse, everything seemed to fall into place. I never cared about how many people turn up to visit our concerts, but the quality of the atmosphere that we create together is what makes our shows everlasting for those who came and went, as well as for each of our bandmembers. The last show in Moenchengladbach was quiet spectacular, oh yes it was :-) Just when i pretended a symbolic suicide, i threw myself down on the hard wooden stage and broke two of my ribs and lost my hearing on the left ear, later blood came out of it. The one thing had nothing to do with the other luckily. My ear was infected after my vacation in Greece, the ribs broken by my own arm I felt on unluckily. I was glad that it was the encore and the end of our set and that we had no other show to go. This time I would surely have had to cancel shows. I'm back at school again and I hope that my students are happy too :-) I am really looking forward to do some more shows, but I will be more careful in the future...an old man is not a speed train as they use to say in Germany.. I better behave like a steam train then....

I just got a very nice review that makes me happy and understood.... these are the words worth writing for...let me share this with you. In physical pain while I write :-)

I met Rudi 4 weeks ago in Pretoria/SA and I can say that he looked great, he is well. Rudi has still this idiosyncratic, very special humour.
We spent the whole day in Pretoria, had a wonderful time, talked a few words in "Dülkener Platt" and listened to late 12DD-stuff while driving around in his car.

After having dropped him at Frankfurt Airport, 12 years ago, it was the first time I met him. I almost cried when we hugged each other after such a long time.

Rudi as a singer and as a person always had a big influence on my music, the Rheindahlen gig in ´83 at Haus Dahlen changed my life. At that night I new exactly what music was all about. To me and to many other musicians 12DD was the beginning of a new era that is not over yet. Hopefully Rudi, Kurt, Ralf, Sibi, Colin an Pete will work again on new material and write the final, glorious chapter.

found an old audiotape at my parents place with the 12dd's first gig in sept.1983 in m.glb/haus dahlen recorded straight from desk by rainer assmann and cologne grosser sendesaal recorded by my dad from radio. and tell u it's more than historic recording.
bounced it on my harddisk. remastered song by song several times and treated them like bottles of excellent redwine. but yesterday, with respectfull distance, I's in the mood to listen to the whole show. so amazing brilliant, beautifull, funny and fullpower energy. it blew my...
although it's still raw bootleg quality, specially songs which never made it on album
like: we were young, kiss of life, guitar ballade, bottom of the line, soon, waves of steel,
seen your face and lighthouse...made me cry. rudi the greatest entertainer and a very hot band jamming orgiastic versions.
thought someone wants to know - and if somebody likes to listen - let me/us know.
are there more live recordings anywhere? 1990?

what's going on with rudi? like to fly to pretoria with my three year old son cosmo but there's no contact yet.

after spending the last couple of weeks in the studio recording our debut album we are now working on the final vocal overdubs and think we will have everything wraped up by the end of oktober. then we'll be mixing the songs and hopefully have that finished by the middle of november. after that we'll be knocking at a few record company doors to see if anyone's interested in taking us on board to release the finished product at the beginning 0f 2005.

is continuing with Dead Guitars and Jud's Gallery -
best wishes with these ventures. Personally I'm not
playing anymore, but I did enjoy success up to 1998
with artists such as The Merseybeats, Denny Laine
(formerly of Wings), and a few Beatles tribute bands.
I also ran my own PA Hire company. I'm now living in
Croydon, but am currently visiting my 3 children in
Liverpool. (Email any responses to this, my son's
address). I can see what Ralf, Kurt, Sibi and Rainer
are doing, but where is Rudi? All the very best, Colin."

Am vergangenen Freitag, den 7. Mai spielten Dead Guitars ein wunderschönes Konzert im Künstlerdorf Worpswede in Niedersachsen. Die Location, die Music Hall, das dankende Publikum und helfende Freunde, wie z.B. Rainer Assmann am Mischpult machten den Abend zu einem Erlebnis. Highlight für 12DD-Fans war die grandiose Version von "Shower Of Love". Carlo van Putten traf die Stimme von Rudi 1a auf den Punkt. Kurz Augen zu machen - und da war man zurück in den Achtzigern auf einem Konzert der Twelve Drummers Drumming. Danke, Ihr Lieben - es war ein Ereignis.
